Accessory Muscles + Baby Food = Stupid.

Bullshit

I’ve been ranting lately….Kirstie Alley & her weight loss products most recently, but seriously, what’s up with this?

I’ve recently heard that a ‘baby food’ cleanse/diet is working it’s way through the celebrity fitness underbelly via Tracy Anderson. Yes, of the ‘accessory muscle’ trainer genre. Let me break this down for you in no uncertain terms. This is flat out STUPID, UNHEALTHY at BEST and I find it even more…. insidiously…. ANTI-WOMAN.

Yes, it’s anti-woman. The clear philosophy here… is to ramp up the unconscious (conscious?) collective female insecurity mania up to a ‘10′ and then crank out the dollars, while taking the unhealthy backroom, lavatory secrets that some models, dancers, and other professionally skinny people use to stay ‘teeny’ …..and blow them up to some sort of faux-legitimacy at the expense of YOUR health, YOUR metabolism, YOUR self-esteem.

Especially TODAY, now…after about 30 years of research, study, and PROOF that short term fixes don’t work.. This means you…. Ms. Paltrow are also responsible. Your money is backing all this. Do you want to be associated with baby food cleanses? REALLY? Is your Oscar not enough?

This makes my job harder. It makes every legitimate professionals job harder. Call me a hater. I don’t care….it’s flat out stupid, and as professionals we need to start saying so.

Anderson espouses myths that have been debunked many times over…. within the past 30 years of LOTS of exercise, research and other related science. Any trainer that can’t teach you how to lose weight AND….. EAT FOOD YOU CAN CHEW is without a doubt…. someone you should RUN FROM.

Oh but wait Ms Anderson says running makes you BULKY….so there’s THAT. lolololol. And for what it’s worth, being a ‘dancer’ is a big ol’ cop out and doesn’t absolve her of knowing the correct and healthy way to achieve the desired ends. She can’t blame any of this on dance being ‘different’. GOOD dancers know better. PROFESSIONAL dancers (that work), know better too. Many of us trainers have LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of dance experience, and know better. So should she.

I wonder if she’s read…this:

HA. Probably not.
